Call for IECRM Emerging Leaders Mentors!
Do you desire to positively impact the life and career of a future leader in the electrical industry? If so, IECRM has the perfect opportunity for you through the IECRM Emerging Leaders (EL) Mentor Program! The 2023-24 IECRM Emerging Leaders Program is underway, and IECRM is calling for mentors among our members to fill the few remaining seats available to participate in virtual monthly meetings from December 2023 to April 2024.
This program is a wonderful opportunity to help cultivate the next generation of industry leaders and to share your expertise with others.
EL Mentors are responsible for the following:
- Participate in monthly 30-minute Zoom planning meetings.
- Serve as a resource to educate mentees about various resources and initiatives at IECRM.
- Complete formal mentee reviews and program evaluations.
- Share expertise and skills with mentees.
Why Become a Mentor:
“This training is uniquely designed to equip participants with the tools and tips to manage the challenges and responsibilities of leadership roles,” says Kori Hemans, IECRM CFO and the Emerging Leaders program staff liaison. “Through role-playing, self-assessment, and other professional development methods, we, as mentors, help participants explore leadership roles as strategists, change agents, coaches, managers, communicators, mentors, and team members.” Discussions with mentor and mentee will include:Where are they from?What got them interested in the electrical industry?What are their short-term and long-term goals?What are they doing well that is helping them achieve their goals?What areas would they like to improve?Do they manage an employee or a team?What is their company doing well, and what areas would they like to improve?What techniques or tools do you use to help manage your time?Share a leadership experience you’ve had.Ask about their Community Service Project.How can they help them with the next steps?
