16th Annual IECRM Summit Awards Honors Best and Brightest in Electrical Contracting and Renewable Energy

Announcing the 2022 IECRM Summit Award Winners

On Thursday, May 5, more than 225 leaders in electrical contracting and renewable energy in the Rocky Mountain region gathered to recognize and celebrate excellence in the energy, electrical, and green building fields through the prestigious 16th Annual Summit Awards Gala, hosted by Independent Electrical Contractors Rocky Mountain (IECRM). The Cable Center at DU sparkled and provided the elegant backdrop for the Gala. The IECRM Event Committee selected the sophisticated, modern, and stunning venue in 2020 and finally presented the experience to its members in person for the first time in two years, after two successful virtual reality Summit Awards events. As guests arrived at the beautiful venue, they were greeted “VIP style” with photos on the red carpet and the step-and-repeat banner that featured the logos of the event sponsors. Guests mingled and networked for an extended cocktail hour, truly enjoying the chance to see each other in person. During the networking cocktail hour, guests enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres and signature cocktails, with opportunities to explore the Cable Center’s exhibits. The theme of the evening’s event gave a slight nod to Cinco de Mayo with elegant renditions of Mexican-inspired cuisine and premium signature drinks including the Megawatt Margarita, Peak Load Paloma, and the Phase Shifter Paloma Mocktail. Live music performances by Mariachi Juvenil de Bryant-Webster filled the air and the much-anticipated award ceremony was about to begin as guests made their way to their seats.

The audience was entertained by the emcee talents of IECRM friend Gregg Moss, Vice President of Communications and Community Relations for Intermountain Healthcare and former 9NEWS Anchor. In 2018, IECRM was featured on the 9NEWS series “Where in the Town is Gregg Moss?” during National Apprenticeship Week (view the featured clip here).

“As I now lead communication for a network of 38 hospitals, I even more so appreciate the work you do in the residential, commercial, industrial, solar, and renewable energy sectors as you supported the essential work of our healthcare industry throughout the pandemic and face the workforce and supply chain challenges we see as well. I am energized to be your host this evening!” – Gregg Moss

After a warm welcome to the ceremony, guests were served gourmet Mexican dishes of Chimichurri Steak, Green Chile Braised Chicken, and Chile Rellenos with Calabacitas and Elotes side dishes in a synchronized fashion – an entertaining performance in itself – that ensured that each person at the table received their meal at the same time.

The awards presentation then began with a toast to the nominees. Robert Watkins, IECRM BOD President and President of Ludvik Electric, took the stage to present the overview of the program and the Superstar Superintendents and Staff Support Services awards.

Jason Jones of The Lighting Group and Kyle Roman of LEI Companies recognized the 2022 IECRM Emerging Leaders. Jason is the 2021 IEC National Rising Star Award recipient and both are IECRM Emerging Leaders alumni.

“The Emerging Leaders Program was a tremendous experience both personally and professionally. I still converse and work closely with many of the members of my cohort today.” – Jason Jones, The Lighting Group

“LEI is a longtime supporter of the Emerging Leader’s program and this year sponsored three nominees within our company. We have seen tremendous individual growth and added professional opportunities for these individuals. The IECRM emerging leaders are the future of Colorado’s electrical industry. They mold the way we conduct business in our market for years to come.” – Kyle Roman, LEI Companies

Eugene Wade, Executive Director of the Colorado Emergency Preparedness Partnership (CEPP) delivered the evening’s Keynote Address. CEPP was recognized with the 2022 Executive Strategic Initiatives award for its leadership in emergency preparedness and disaster response planning. Other special guests of the evening included the 2022 Wire-Off Competition Winners and the 2022 Emerging Leaders graduates.

Generous contributions were provided by The Home Depot Pro as the premier sponsor of the 2022 Summit Awards. A total of 32 Summit Awards entries were nominated this year and judged by an independent panel of industry experts. Many IECRM Summit Award winners have gone on to compete at the Annual IEC National Competition, and several have received national awards for their outstanding work.

We value our IECRM members and apprentice community. We encourage all apprentices to be enrolled in the four-year apprenticeship program, earning, and learning their way toward Journeyworker licensure. We encourage all members to utilize the member discount for tuition, books and applicable fees to ensure the long-term support and success of the next-generation electrician.

(Payment Plans are available, please reference the Self Pay Payment Plan Policy.)

Self-Pay Payment Plan Policy

We offer the following arrangements for students that are unable to pay in full at the time of registration.
