Women in Construction Spotlight: Kari Quenroe

As part of Women in Construction Week #WICWeek (March 1–7, 2026), IECRM is celebrating women shaping the electrical and construction trades. Today, we’re proud to highlight Kari Quenroe, a 3rd-Year Electrical Apprentice with 1st Choice Electrical Service LLC.

What inspired you to pursue an electrical apprenticeship, and what has kept you motivated along the way?

“I wanted to be helpful in the family business,” Kari said. “I’ve kept motivated because the more I learn, the more fascinating this field is. Once you have the basics down, you can diversify into many different applications.”

What’s a challenge you’ve faced in the industry, and how did you work through it?

“I faced the challenge of knowing how to properly build services,” she shared. “I spent the time learning the code and practiced until I became more familiar with all the rules.”

Why do you think it’s important for women to be visible in the electrical and construction trades?

“It’s important that people know the outside doesn’t determine capability,” Kari said. “The electrical industry involves a lot of math, planning, and layout — skills that many women excel in if given the chance.”

What does building an inclusive and supportive workplace in the electrical industry look like to you?

“An inclusive workplace is one where everyone gets the information they need and equal opportunity to learn and demonstrate skills,” she explained.

Through stories like Kari’s, IECRM continues to highlight the women who are building the future of the electrical and construction trades.
