A Letter from the CEO

Five years ago, I joined IECRM with a big directive from the Board of Directors to lead the association into the future with a fresh and innovative space for training the next generation electrician, to adapt our service offerings to include new technologies, address opportunities facing the electrical industry, and continue to grow the long-regarded organization that has served the merit shop contractor for almost forty years.

When people in and out of the organization ask me about what I do, I say, “I love my job!” Doing what you love and knowing you are making an impactful difference every day is what I also see in each of you our contractor members, our industry partners, our apprentices, and throughout the community we serve. Your enthusiasm and engagement with us is proof that you do what you love and love what you do.

As we approach Valentine’s Day, the entire IECRM team hopes that you “feel the love” we have for you and that we know you have for your employees! The satisfaction of doing what you love brings intrinsic motivation – the drive to do something interesting, involving, exciting, satisfying or personally challenging.

As we settle into 2020, we ask you to be inspired by getting involved. Join an IECRM Committee or attend an IEC National meeting. Save the dates for our exciting events for 2020. Motivate yourself and others to recognize exceptional projects and people through our Summit Awards, and sign up to be a sponsor of an event.

Join us at our upcoming Quarterly Membership Luncheon on Thursday, February 27, where you will meet the IECRM Board of Directors, hear from our newest committee about diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and review your 2020 membership benefits. Directly following the member luncheon, sharpen your FlashPoint skills with an hour-long training session for contractor members!

The “Call for Nominations” is now open for the IECRM Summit Awards! Preview the nomination form here to learn about the many award categories and start identifying the people and projects that deserve recognition at the 2020 Summit Awards Banquet on Thursday, April 23. This year’s prestigious event will be held at an exciting new venue. Details will be coming soon – watch your email for the announcement!

If you are feeling particularly passionate about a topic or a trend, think about entering a proposal to present at the National IEC Convention & Expo in late October. Plus, take a look at our new monthly features Code Corner, complete with a trivia question or two, and Inspector Perspective, where we elaborate on code changes and interpretation.

Remember: it’s that time again… the time we all know so well… every three years when electrical professionals everywhere usher in a new Code change cycle. The 2020 NEC will affect the largest number of our readers. Did you know that there are more than 100 changes to the Code in 2020? If you need to purchase your 2020 Code Book, click here to order yours today.

Whether you face these code revisions with great anticipation, overwhelming excitement, or even a little bit of reluctance and anxiety, we can help you through the changes. We’re offering CEU classes both in-class and online, group discounts, and new state-approved CEU class opportunities to support our members’ career training and ensure all Colorado electricians can meet the requirements to renew their electrical licenses. September 2020 license renewal will be here quickly, so register now for classes or custom training.

Watch your mailbox for our 2019 Year-in-Review printed report where we re-cap the terrific year we had and outline our commitment to maintaining a high profile in the community and our industry, emphasizing the importance of apprenticeships, electricians, and the skilled trades to the health of the construction industry in Colorado.

And keep sharing the stories of “that’s my project” with me. It’s a major reason I love what I do and why I want the next generation electrician to love the industry, too!

We look forward to continuing to help you love your job!

IECRM Self-Pay Tuition Policy

Self-pay students who are employed with a member company must register and pay through the member company using the IECRM Flashpoint Enrollment Portal/Process in order to qualify for member rates.

Self-pay students that are employed with a member company but that do not register and pay through the member will be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

Self-pay students who are employed with a member company and require a payment plan will not qualify for the member rate and will be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

Self-pay students who do not work for a member company will continue to be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

To maximize association/membership benefits, ALL member companies are encouraged to register and pay for all enrolled apprentices utilizing internal payment arrangements and processes between employer and employee.

We value our IECRM members and apprentice community. We encourage all apprentices to be enrolled in the four-year apprenticeship program, earning, and learning their way toward Journeyworker licensure. We encourage all members to utilize the member discount for tuition, books and applicable fees to ensure the long-term support and success of the next-generation electrician.

(Payment Plans are available, please reference the Self Pay Payment Plan Policy.)

Self-Pay Payment Plan Policy

We offer the following arrangements for students that are unable to pay in full at the time of registration.

● Self-pay students will be charged the non-member rate.
● A 50% down payment of total semester tuition, books and applicable fees are due at registration.
● Remaining balance can be divided up to 3 additional monthly payments ($10.00 processing fee applies on each installment)
● All payments that are declined will incur a $20.00 NSF fee.

We encourage all students who are employed with a member company to work with their employer to register and pay through the IECRM Flashpoint Enrollment Portal/Process. This will ensure the student is paying the lowest possible rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.
