Workforce Development: Outreach, Training, and Advocacy

IECRM’s dedication to inspire the next generation of electricians is… electric!

A solid workforce is crucial to your business and IECRM works behind-the-scenes in partnership with state and county workforce development centers to create and ensure a skilled workforce pipeline for IECRM members. Elevating the quality of the workforce for members is also conducted at multiple levels through a variety of programs and committees, including:

  • Career Fairs (contractor members receive a free booth)
  • Hire List & Online Job Board
  • Outreach to schools and communities
  • Legislative policy and advocacy for the industry
  • Administration of the Davis-Bacon Prevailing Wage/Office of Apprenticeship Program
  • Diversity & Inclusion Committee
  • Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
  • National Apprenticeship Week Initiatives

IECRM is committed to providing our members with outreach and recruitment support. Take advantage of our candidate-facing benefits – free Career Fair booths, the IECRM Job Board and  Hire List – as well as networking and engagement of our senior staff with influencers, government, educators and human resources decision-makers. To promote our hiring events, IECRM advertises on local radio, billboards, social media, and digital platforms. Listen for our ads beginning in the spring of 2020 on the radio. Like and follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn for information on upcoming IECRM Career Fairs and other events.

IECRM reaches out in the community to spread the word and share our passion to inspire the next generation of electricians and teaches an electrical course for pre-apprenticeship programs for CCN (Constructions Careers Now) and The Master’s Apprentice. Our training team regularly attends high school job fairs to promote a career in the electrical field. With the addition of our new Education and Workforce Development Coordinator, Londell Jackson, IECRM was able to engage in 57 workforce outreach initiatives last year with even more to come in 2020. In addition, Londell has been working behind the scenes to plan and launch an IECRM exclusive Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program in partnership with local workforce centers. Based on the New Worker Program from IEC National this program aims to help supply the industry with prepared, knowledgeable, and safe candidates who have received OSHA 10 and CPR training and certification. This program will conclude with an exclusive hiring fair open to IECRM contractor members. Watch your inbox for exciting updates to come within the next few weeks.

With the State of Colorado’s new requirement of 24 hours of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every 3 years for all electrical license renewals, IECRM has been working diligently with the State to approve 10 CEU courses that meet the requirement, with reciprocity in 15 states. Members always receive the best pricing on CEUs and professional development courses and can take advantage of group rates.

In addition to providing outreach and recruitment support, IECRM offers its members the opportunity to light the pathway for their employees through the award-winning Emerging Leaders Program. This program, in its eighth year, has more than 20 participants and provides individuals with the relevant resources and tools to develop and sharpen their leadership skills to accelerate the trajectory of their career, their company, and the industry at large. Apprentices, supervisors, and even established managers are welcome to participate. Registration will open in June of 2020. Spaces are limited.  Please visit iecrm.org/leaders for additional details.

IECRM Self-Pay Tuition Policy

Self-pay students who are employed with a member company must register and pay through the member company using the IECRM Flashpoint Enrollment Portal/Process in order to qualify for member rates.

Self-pay students that are employed with a member company but that do not register and pay through the member will be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

Self-pay students who are employed with a member company and require a payment plan will not qualify for the member rate and will be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

Self-pay students who do not work for a member company will continue to be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

To maximize association/membership benefits, ALL member companies are encouraged to register and pay for all enrolled apprentices utilizing internal payment arrangements and processes between employer and employee.

We value our IECRM members and apprentice community. We encourage all apprentices to be enrolled in the four-year apprenticeship program, earning, and learning their way toward Journeyworker licensure. We encourage all members to utilize the member discount for tuition, books and applicable fees to ensure the long-term support and success of the next-generation electrician.

(Payment Plans are available, please reference the Self Pay Payment Plan Policy.)

Self-Pay Payment Plan Policy

We offer the following arrangements for students that are unable to pay in full at the time of registration.

● Self-pay students will be charged the non-member rate.
● A 50% down payment of total semester tuition, books and applicable fees are due at registration.
● Remaining balance can be divided up to 3 additional monthly payments ($10.00 processing fee applies on each installment)
● All payments that are declined will incur a $20.00 NSF fee.

We encourage all students who are employed with a member company to work with their employer to register and pay through the IECRM Flashpoint Enrollment Portal/Process. This will ensure the student is paying the lowest possible rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.
