IECRM’s FREE Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program (AMPLIFY) is Now Accepting Applications

The AMPLIFY Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program

AMPLIFY is an electrical pre-apprenticeship program that provides a dynamic experience of career discovery in electrical contracting for high school students and job seekers who are considering a career as an electrician. The program is offered over 4 weeks for free so that it is available to anyone interested in learning about the career path of an electrician. The inaugural program was a huge success, so IECRM will host 2 programs in 2022!

 AMPLIFY Spring Session: April 25 – May 12, Monday-Thursday, 1-5pm

 AMPLIFY Summer Session: July 11-28, Monday-Thursday, 1-5pm

What made the Inaugural AMPLIFY Pre-Apprenticeship Program a success:

  • All participants that signed up completed the entire 4-week program.
  • One-third of the attendees were hired during the program’s exclusive career fair AND were enrolled in the 4-Year Apprenticeship Training Program.
  • Participants received OSHA-10 and CPR, First-Aid, and AED Certifications increasing their desirability to be hired in a construction career (a $400 value).

During the Spring and Summer AMPLIFY program, participants will:

  • Learn the basics of electricity,
  • Explore residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work,
  • Become familiar with the tools and materials used on job sites,
  • Learn about job site safety protocols,
  • Get hands-on training in basic circuitry,
  • Receive training and certification in:
    • OSHA-10, CPR, First-Aid & AED
  • Receive a certificate of completion during a graduation celebration and reception,
  • Attend an exclusive Hiring Fair with many electrical contractors hiring on the spot.

“AMPLIFY is a great way to understand what it takes to become an electrician and it gets people excited about the industry, giving them a sense of direction,” says Londell Jackson, IECRM’s Education and Workforce Development Coordinator. “At the end of the 4-week Program, participants receive two certifications; OSHA 10 and CPR with a total value of $400, and they are invited to attend an exclusive career fair that gets them in touch with some of the best electrical contractors in Colorado so they can essentially begin their path to becoming an electrician right away!”

IECRM will be recruiting participants starting in January and will be hosting two AMPLIFY Pre-Apprenticeship Programs in the Spring and Summer of 2022. IECRM will extend the communication to high school education counselors and teachers to present the opportunity to students while they are contemplating what’s next after graduation.

AMPLIFY Program Benefits

“For parents, this free program provides a comfort zone for their students to explore their career options in construction and electrical contracting – something that they may have never considered,” says Londell. “This career is sustainable for decades, pandemic proof, and upon graduation from IECRM’s four-year apprenticeship training program, most graduates are employed and have zero debt.”

IECRM encourages students and job seekers to test-drive electrical contracting. “Try it out! See if a career as an electrician is right for you – you might have the acumen and would enjoy the challenge.”

The AMPLIFY program is taught by IECRM experts and experienced electricians and is based on industry standards, establishing clear expectations for participants about what they will encounter on the job.
