IECRM’s 2023 Wire-Off Winners
On Friday, May 5th, Independent Electrical Contractors Rocky Mountain (IECRM) held its annual “Wire-Off” Competition at its main campus in Northglenn, CO, where the top ten students from each year of the Four-Year Electrical Apprenticeship Training Program put their skills and knowledge to the test in LIVE competitions throughout the day. The competitors’ employers, friends, and family were invited to watch the competition live via IECRM’s YouTube channel and in person throughout the day.
IECRM treated its members to a Car Show & Happy Hour during the Wire-Off Competition for the first time ever. IDEAL Industries and Graybar joined forces to sponsor food and beverages. We are incredibly grateful to the Graybar team for bringing their custom grill trailer and for preparing and serving fresh carne asada, chicken, and plant-based tacos and nachos with all the fixings, to our guests! IECRM had a designated area in its parking lot for the Car Show & Happy Hour for guests to gather, network, and show off their prized vehicles. A special thank you goes out to Xcel Partners in Energy for inviting 3 Electric Vehicles (EVs) to showcase the latest innovative technology in EVs. Attendees with a vehicle on display received a goodie bag and received a commemorative photo of their vehicle.
During the Car Show & Happy Hour, the Wire-Off Competition came to a close, and the competitors gathered outside of the campus’ main entrance to announce the winners and were invited to join guests for the Car Show & Happy Hour. Congratulations to the 2023 IECRM Wire-Off Winners & Competitors! “We are so very proud of every student who competed. It’s a tough competition that tests our apprentices’ wiring skills,” said Paul Lingo, IECRM Training Director.
Daniel Alig of Glanz Electrical Contracting, Inc. emerged victorious, taking home 1st place in the 4th-year apprentice category. He will move on to represent IECRM in the IEC National Competition this fall, where he will compete against finalists from approximately 50 IEC Chapters from across the country for the title of Apprentice of the Year (AOY). The IECRM Wire-Off winners for each apprenticeship year are listed below.
