Independent Electrical Contractors Rocky Mountain (IECRM), the largest IEC electrical apprenticeship training program in the United States, is excited to announce its expansion into Wyoming, with classes beginning this fall. IECRM recently partnered with Laramie County Community College to offer aspiring electricians state-approved apprenticeship training in person at the Cheyenne Campus at 1400 E. College Drive, Cheyenne, WY 82007. Enrollment opens to all on Monday, June 24, 2024. Those who register and pay in full by Monday, July 8, 2024, will receive the early bird discount on tuition. Enrollment will close on Friday, July 19, 2024, or when seats are full. Click here for more information about how to register.
IECRM is a 501c3 nonprofit electrical apprenticeship training program and a 501c6 nonprofit association serving the electrical contracting and renewable energy industry to educate, promote, and advance the electrical industry. Contractors who are association members receive discounted apprenticeship and continuing education classes, among various other member benefits. Apprenticeship training enrollment opens a week early for members of the association. The four-year apprenticeship training program meets the requirements of 576 classroom training hours set forth by the state of Wyoming to be eligible to take the journeyman licensure exam.
Classes are held one night per week during the evening to allow apprentices to earn 8,000 hours of on-the-job training during the day simultaneously — an earn-while-you-learn training model. The new in-person training at Laramie County Community College will enable apprentices in Wyoming to benefit from IECRM’s high-quality education, making it more convenient for those in the region to access top-tier training without traveling long distances. This expansion reflects IECRM’s ongoing dedication to supporting the electrical industry by making training accessible to a broader audience.
“We are thrilled to extend our electrical apprenticeship training program to Wyoming,” said Marilyn Akers Stansbury, CEO of IECRM. “This initiative will provide more opportunities for aspiring electricians in the region, aligning with our mission to advance the electrical industry through comprehensive education and training.”
IECRM represents more than 275 companies in the electrical industry in Colorado and Wyoming and trains more than 3,000 apprentices and licensed electricians annually. As the largest IEC Apprenticeship program in the U.S., IECRM continues to set the standard for electrical apprenticeship training, promoting excellence and innovation in the field.
