IECRM’s AMPLIFY program is a dynamic three-week pre-apprenticeship initiative designed to introduce individuals to the electrical trade. Participants gain hands-on experience with tools of the trade, foundational Electrical 101 knowledge, and an overview of diverse career opportunities in the field. The program also includes OSHA-10 and CPR certification, ensuring graduates have essential safety training that remains valid for two years. This immersive experience allows individuals to “test-drive” a career as an electrician before committing to a full apprenticeship.
Upon completing the program, AMPLIFY graduates receive exclusive early access to the IECRM Electrical & Renewable Energy Career Fair, where they can connect directly with more than ten of Colorado’s top electrical contractors. This gives them a competitive edge by engaging with employers who recognize the value of pre-apprenticeship training. The fair serves as a launchpad for these aspiring electricians, providing networking opportunities and potential job offers from companies actively seeking skilled and motivated candidates.
IECRM encourages its Contractor Members to take advantage of this event by hosting a booth at the career fair as part of their membership benefits. This allows contractors to meet pre-certified candidates who have already demonstrated a commitment to the electrical industry through their pre-apprenticeship training. By participating, employers gain access to a talent pool that is not only eager to enter the workforce but also equipped with essential safety knowledge and foundational skills, reducing the need for extensive entry-level training. As Joe Laughlin, Education & Workforce Development Coordinator at IECRM, states, “IECRM’s Career Fairs are a win-win situation for both sides, providing job seekers with valuable opportunities and contractors with access to a pool of talented and motivated individuals.”
To ensure a successful event, IECRM invests in extensive marketing efforts, including outreach through local and public radio, digital advertising, social media campaigns, community media calendars, and targeted email communications. With an expected attendance of approximately 100 job seekers, including over 20 AMPLIFY graduates, the fair is positioned as a premier hiring event for the electrical industry. Through strategic connections and industry support, IECRM continues to strengthen the future workforce, bridging the gap between skilled talent and contractors in need of dedicated professionals.
