2020 IECRM Annual Business Meeting of Members, State of the Industry & Board of Directors Election

This important annual gathering of the IECRM community brought together members and partners for a “State of IECRM and State of the Industry” presentation, as well as the election for the 2021 IECRM Board of Directors. Instead of coming together in-person for cocktails and elegant steak dinner, IECRM held this event virtually on Thursday, November 12, 2020, through a live-online format that was engaging, informative, and fun.

The event opened with a networking cocktail hour with a choice to attend one or all 5 different virtual networking rooms, featuring volunteer talent from IECRM family and friends!

Guests had fun in the Mixology room with IECRM Training Manager Annette Gauna where they learned how to make the night’s signature drinks. Click here for the recipe The  Classic Rock room featured live music performed by Billy Ahrendt, uncle of IECRM Administrative and Events Specialist Penny Sorensen, and got guests engaged with a competitive “name that tune” contest. The Broadway room featured Broadway favorites performed and recorded by Rob Rehberg, son-in-law of IECRM Compliance Manager Terri Reynolds, who also tested guests’ knowledge of Broadway trivia.

Special thanks go to Networking Room sponsors and hosts: Lindsey Hill and Lydia Moore of The Home Depot, and Shawn Johnson and Chris Howard of Milwaukee Electric Tool for sponsoring their fun, festive breakout sessions and for hosting their own trivia rooms.

“There’s light at the end of the tunnel….we know…..because an electrician installed it there,” says IECRM instructor, Chris Shipp. This favorite quote was the inspiration for this year’s State of the Industry Meeting theme of LIGHT.  Click here for a video message from IECRM Instructor Chris Shipp

IECRM has been a guiding light in the industry in 2020, and will continue to lead us toward 2021 where there is light at the end of the tunnel. IECRM Board President Robert Watkins and CEO Marilyn Akers Stansbury recognized notable accomplishments in our industry during the challenging and uncertain time of 2020. They shared how and what to prepare for as we move forward into 2021.

The evening’s keynote speaker, Alice Jackson, Colorado President of Xcel Energy and IECRM Industry Partner, addressed the future of energy and policy impacts. Alice was recognized in 2019 as the Denver Business Journal’s Top Woman in Business and has been active throughout this year in COVID-19 response and economic recovery efforts. Candy Branham, the 2020 President of IEC National and President of Branham Electric in St. Louis, Missouri, highlighted IEC National successes throughout the year and spoke about the many benefits that IEC National offers its members in addition to local chapter member benefits. We will welcome Candy next year when the IEC National Convention comes to Denver on October 6-9, 2021. Mark your calendars for IEC-Colorado! Click here to watch Candy’s presentation.

Janet Martin, Vice President of Finance for Bret’s Electric, spoke on what it means to be a member of IEC. Janet has been an active and engaged contractor member, as well as a board and committee member locally and nationally. In January, Janet will become IEC National President and will preside over the Convention in Colorado in 2021! Click here to watch Janet’s Presentation.

During the virtual event, the Annual Board of Directors Elections were held. In true 2020-fashion, the election resulted in a tie! Subsequent voting will be taking place to determine the 2021 Board members.

The evening concluded with a virtual President’s Reception where guests could mingle and linger after the presentation, as well as fantastic door prizes provided by our sponsors.

With the participation and support from its members, IECRM will continue to shine the light on the path forward into 2021.

IECRM Self-Pay Tuition Policy

Self-pay students who are employed with a member company must register and pay through the member company using the IECRM Flashpoint Enrollment Portal/Process in order to qualify for member rates.

Self-pay students that are employed with a member company but that do not register and pay through the member will be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

Self-pay students who are employed with a member company and require a payment plan will not qualify for the member rate and will be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

Self-pay students who do not work for a member company will continue to be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

To maximize association/membership benefits, ALL member companies are encouraged to register and pay for all enrolled apprentices utilizing internal payment arrangements and processes between employer and employee.

We value our IECRM members and apprentice community. We encourage all apprentices to be enrolled in the four-year apprenticeship program, earning, and learning their way toward Journeyworker licensure. We encourage all members to utilize the member discount for tuition, books and applicable fees to ensure the long-term support and success of the next-generation electrician.

(Payment Plans are available, please reference the Self Pay Payment Plan Policy.)

Self-Pay Payment Plan Policy

We offer the following arrangements for students that are unable to pay in full at the time of registration.

● Self-pay students will be charged the non-member rate.
● A 50% down payment of total semester tuition, books and applicable fees are due at registration.
● Remaining balance can be divided up to 3 additional monthly payments ($10.00 processing fee applies on each installment)
● All payments that are declined will incur a $20.00 NSF fee.

We encourage all students who are employed with a member company to work with their employer to register and pay through the IECRM Flashpoint Enrollment Portal/Process. This will ensure the student is paying the lowest possible rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.
