The Apprenticeship Movement Gains Momentum
IECRM Celebrates National Apprenticeship Week Nov. 12-16
The Independent Electrical Contractors Rocky Mountain Chapter (IECRM) will observe National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) through a week-long celebration that highlights the benefits of apprenticeship in preparing a highly-skilled workforce to meet the talent needs of employers across diverse industries. The fourth annual NAW runs November 12-16.
Numerous events will honor IECRM’s apprentices and offer leaders in business, labor, education, and other critical partners a chance to demonstrate their support for apprenticeships.
Being an apprentice can be a life-changing experience for the young, women, military veterans, and career-changers. (Watch this and hear first hand from IECRM apprentice/graduates about their experiences https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBkgldQK7mw&feature=youtu.be
On-the-job training along with teaching the theory and application produces highly skilled workers. IECRM works daily to challenge the belief that a college degree is the only pathway to success. The “earn while you learn” apprenticeship model is an ideal win-win for the employer and the employee. An apprentice comes out of IECRM’s training program with a job and virtually no college debt because the program is paid, either all or in part, by the employer. Employers win because they find apprenticeships help with retention, as workers who come up through apprenticeship see the investment their employers are making in their career. Additionally, they benefit from an employee who has been trained in world-class safety – an essential skill set for any worker.
