PLATINUM PARTNER: Spotlight on Federated Insurance

About…

Federated Insurance joined IECRM as an Industry Partner more than 17 years ago. Supporting the chapter at the highest level of partnership, Federated Insurance remains active in IECRM through its Platinum Partner Membership. IECRM Platinum Partners support industry development by providing quality products and services, educating the energy professional, and advocating for the independent contractor.

What is the most strategic service you provide to electrical contractors and to the renewable energy industry?

We offer insurance coverage tailored to the electrical contracting industry. Our products and services are constantly evolving to help businesses stay at the top of their industries. Along with traditional coverages like property damage and auto liability, we help our clients address emerging risks like cyberattacks and assist with bonding.

Where we really split from the pack is our risk management knowledge. Enhancing the success of our clients and association partners is a true passion of our organization. We are not content to simply help pay for covered financial losses, which we do. We want to help business owners and their employees make it home safe every night. We offer a library of employee training materials and educational resources to help empower businesses. We also work directly with businesses to help them identify and mitigate risks in their operations.

Describe your partnership with IECRM…

Our relationship with IECRM goes back about 15 years. We are fortunate to be recommended for property & liability coverage and financial protection services. Our relationship with IECRM is mutually beneficial. We offer some truly exceptional benefits — referrals to our independent network of business-succession attorneys and complimentary attendance at our Federated Insurance Risk Management AcademySM events, for example. And IECRM and its members provide us opportunities to learn more about their industry. Members of associations like IECRM help inform and drive the development of our risk management programs. Our relationship really is a win-win.

Tell us more about what underpins your positioning statement “It’s Our Business to Protect Yours®.”

That declaration accompanies our mission statement: “As a mutual insurance company, we believe our value is measured by the success of our clients.” This statement is much more than a saying to us. It is a philosophy that propels the efforts of our more than 2,600 employees across the nation. As a group of professionals, we focus on one goal: to enhance the success of our clients and association partners. It is the reason we spend so much energy on helping businesses keep their employees and property safe.

Federated is more than 100 years old. What’s the secret to that kind of longevity and success?

It’s really no secret. We work to create relationships of trust with our clients and association partners by delivering on our promises every day. Our direct approach to doing business is becoming rare. While we offer options for our clients who prefer to do some of their business digitally, we know our clients value our personal touch. We have been shaking hands and showing our clients we truly care about their success since we were founded in 1904, and we don’t intend to stop any time soon.

Federated’s focus on electrical contracting spans all areas of the industry. Tell us more about that focus.

The expertise and professionalism electrical contractors bring to their industry is inspiring. But no one can be successful alone. Our contribution to the contracting industry is providing risk management materials, tailored insurance coverages, and the only direct surety company so our clients can have the peace of mind they need to focus on what they do best. When you look at our risk management offerings, you’ll find topics that range from the general, like fire prevention and ladder safety, to the specific, like a training module on the hazards of electrical arc flash.

How do you effectively use your involvement with IECRM? Why is that important?

IECRM members are heavily involved in their industry. They want to not only make a living delivering their services but work to make the industry better. That’s something we can really relate to. We are proud of the knowledge we have gained and shared when it comes to our products and services. But we take even more pride knowing that what we do can help businesses be more successful. It’s our business to protect our clients, but it’s also our privilege.

IECRM Self-Pay Tuition Policy

Self-pay students who are employed with a member company must register and pay through the member company using the IECRM Flashpoint Enrollment Portal/Process in order to qualify for member rates.

Self-pay students that are employed with a member company but that do not register and pay through the member will be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

Self-pay students who are employed with a member company and require a payment plan will not qualify for the member rate and will be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

Self-pay students who do not work for a member company will continue to be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

To maximize association/membership benefits, ALL member companies are encouraged to register and pay for all enrolled apprentices utilizing internal payment arrangements and processes between employer and employee.

We value our IECRM members and apprentice community. We encourage all apprentices to be enrolled in the four-year apprenticeship program, earning, and learning their way toward Journeyworker licensure. We encourage all members to utilize the member discount for tuition, books and applicable fees to ensure the long-term support and success of the next-generation electrician.

Self-Pay Payment Plan Policy

We offer the following arrangements for students that are unable to pay in full at the time of registration.

● Self-pay students will be charged the non-member rate.
● A 50% down payment of total semester tuition, books and applicable fees are due at registration.
● Remaining balance can be divided up to 3 additional monthly payments ($10.00 processing fee applies on each installment)
● All payments that are declined will incur a $20.00 NSF fee.

We encourage all students who are employed with a member company to work with their employer to register and pay through the IECRM Flashpoint Enrollment Portal/Process. This will ensure the student is paying the lowest possible rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.
