Platinum Partner Spotlight – Graybar
As the 2022 IECRM Industry Partner of the Year, Graybar has proven to be a valuable asset not only to the association but to the entire electrical industry. From its humble beginnings in 1869 as Gray & Barton to becoming one of North America’s largest employee-owned companies, Graybar has served as a vital link in the supply chain working to the advantage of its suppliers and customers.
We asked Jason Ghent and Jon Callaway to provide us with some insights about what makes Graybar a great partner:
- What is your Company’s WHY?
Graybar is an employee-owned distributor of electrical and communication/data products whose purpose is to help our customers build and maintain their facilities with solutions to improve their efficiency, reduce risk, and be the best material management company for them.
- What is it you believe in? Our 153-year history has taught us that our industry is an essential, collaborative, and vibrant part of America. Working together, we can serve our employees, customers, and manufacturers to be the critical link in the supply chain.
- What is the most strategic service you provide to electrical contractors and the renewable energy industry?
Our most strategic services to electrical contractors take place when, together, we deliberately align our cultures, processes, and systems to create efficient projects and new business opportunities. It is not a product that can be bought, rather, it is a long-term commitment to the best outcomes for both parties. - Tell us about your partnership and engagement with IECRM.
Graybar takes its IECRM Platinum membership seriously and provides an enthusiastic approach to IECRM events. Whether it is barbecuing at the Expo/Open House or participating with contractor members at the Clay Shoot and Golf tournament, Graybar is eager to be involved in IECRM events. Additionally, Graybar is represented on the Board of Directors and involved in committees with contractors members.
- Words of Inspiration and Wisdom… The effects of the pandemic and supply chain disruptions have shown us that the rules of thumb that we had in 2019 no longer apply. Rather, a “supply chain 4.0” is evolving to enable contractors to run a “digital thread” through their projects, starting with a digital BOM at the estimate that follows through the entire construction cycle to closeout.
