Stress is frequently an inevitable part of the electrical construction industry. However, when stress becomes chronic, it can lead to burnout, anxiety, or depression. If left unchecked or compounded by additional life stressors, substance abuse, or underlying mental health conditions, it may even result in suicidal thoughts for some individuals. Timely intervention is crucial. During the forum, Certified Fearless Living Coach & Trainer Jeff Visnic provided valuable insights on identifying and effectively managing these workplace challenges.
Key Takeaways:
- Recognizing Warning Signs: Understanding the early indicators of stress, depression, or suicidal thoughts in both yourself and your colleagues is crucial for timely intervention.
- Stress Management in High-Stakes Environments: Tools and techniques were shared to help manage stress effectively, ensuring it doesn’t escalate into burnout.
- Building a Supportive Work Culture: Creating an open environment where mental health is prioritized fosters resilience and ensures that no one has to face challenges alone.
The forum served as a powerful reminder that while stress may be inevitable, supporting one another and addressing effective ways to manage stress and mental health issues head-on can prevent the progression into more severe symptoms of burnout, anxiety, and depression. By uniting as a community, we can create a healthier, more supportive work environment for everyone.

Safety Forum Pre-Presentation Discussion on Near Misses on the Job Site:
● Be aware of your pallets and pallet jacks. Know the position of the trucks with the lift to distribute the weight safely.
● It’s important to have your team forklift certified and trained to load and unload materials safely.
● Auto accidents from visibility issues from the sun. Make sure the team wears seatbelts and sunglasses.
● Pre-work planning – take the time to plan ahead to set the foundation for the day to keep people safe. JSA/JHA templates are important should you ever need documentation in the event of an accident/injury.
