IECRM Member Benefit of the Month – OA Contractor Registration
IECRM is a certified US Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship* (OA) training provider. This OA designation allows our member companies with employees in our IECRM Apprenticeship School to bid on government projects with Davis-Bacon wage requirements on a tiered scale. This tiered scale allows contractors to provide wage and benefit estimates far below that of Davis-Bacon prevailing wages. This unique benefit of IECRM enables contractors to provide a more competitive bid.
To be OA registered, contractors must be in good standing with membership in IECRM. Apprentices must be OA registered and must be enrolled in classes, or signed up for the next enrollment period at IECRM. Additionally, apprentices must log their OJT hours monthly and in FlashPoint and must be approved by the contractor.
Additional benefits to IECRM contractor members also include:
- Access to the Borrowed Employee Program where contractors can loan or borrow workers for short-term projects without hiring or laying off someone. Access to the Borrowed Worker List and Hire List is found in FlashPoint on the Contractor Resource Page.
- Access to the Hire Lists that provides the names of apprentices who have already completed the OA process.
- Post a Job is a great way to attract OA-familiar apprentices. https://iecrm.org/member-resources/electrician-job-postings/
- VA Benefits are available and an authorized IECRM representative, not the employer, must sign OJT reports. Annette Guana can address all VA questions at [email protected]
OA Registration is available to all IECRM Member Contractors in good standing. For more information, please visit iecrm.org.
*In July, Colorado will be regulated by the state for apprenticeships. Keep an eye on your emails for further details in the upcoming weeks.
