Get Added to the IECRM Hire-list

Please note that this is not a guarantee of employment, but a great way to get your name in front of contractors who are hiring.

Step 1: Watch this video.

Step 2: Complete the Hiring List Registration form, then look for an email from Mike Davis[email protected], within a week with a list of IECRM member contractors.

Step 3: Do some research and identify contractors that may be a good fit to start your electrical career and follow their application process and hiring procedures and look for contractors who are hiring through Indeed, iecrm.org/jobs and other job boards.

Step 4: Once you are hired, your employer will enroll you in classes during the next registration period, which is typically July or September for August or October classes. Once you are an apprentice, you will need to register with DORA. You can start the process here: https://dpo.colorado.gov/Electrical/Apprentice. Watch this video: https://youtu.be/XXbcVZ2ka3Y.

Step 5: Complete the IECRM Math Assessment. You only have one opportunity to take this assessment and you must receive a passing grade of 70% or above or you will have to take our Math Module class at additional cost. If you need to brush up on your pre-algebra we suggest using this website: www.khanacademy.org

Step 6: Let us know that you have been hired, and we will remove you from the list.

If you have any questions, please contact (303) 853-4886.

More Information

Use this form and we will contact you for next steps.

If you are not participating in the IECRM apprenticeship program, applications will be filed in chronological order by date of submission; and apprentices, pursuant to federal regulation, will be ranked, and a list maintained, in accordance with the score received by the application committee. The list of apprentices can be requested by a potential employer by the level of apprenticeship program in which the apprentice is currently enrolled.

IECRM acts as a clearing house and maintains a list of contractors interested in considering an apprenticeship program, which it will make available to any contractor member upon request, as a member service.

IECRM will accept no role and take no responsibility for arranging placements, suggesting referrals, setting terms of engagement, or otherwise becoming involved in agreements reached between interested contractors.

The following non-exclusive guidelines are provided solely for purposes of discussion and consideration. Contractors interested in participating in such a program should also consider consulting with legal counsel before finalizing an agreement to lend or borrow employees.

Suggested guidelines for consideration

Make the duration of the loan limited, but specific period of time

  • Communicate before the expiration of the time frame to either terminate the loan or mutually agree to extend it
  • During the loan period, don’t recall the loaned employee unless the “Host Firm” approves the change in advance.
  • As “Host Firm,” do not entice or otherwise induce the employee to quit the “Home Firm”. (We don’t steal each other’s employees).
  • Consider whether to place the employee(s) loaned on a leave of absence or other non-active employment status, or to keep them on the “Home Firm” payroll.
  • Agree in advance how and by whom wages and benefits will be paid, what insurance coverage will be provided by whom, and on whose payroll the employees will be listed.
  • Clarify to employees any extra or optional benefits to be provided by either the “Home Firm” or the “Host Firm”.
  • Confirm that the employee(s) loaned must perform adequately or they will be automatically returned to the “Host Firm”.
  • Reach a prior agreement or understanding regarding whether holiday and/or vacation time can be used during the loan period.
  • Recognize that liability issues could arise; and clarify, to the extent possible, who does or does not accept or maintain liability for specific issues or circumstances.

The “Home Firm” maintains its nucleus of personnel without having to pay people to sit at home or send them home without pay. The “Host Firm” is able to find competent temporary help for short term needs. The electrician will not lose time during a slow cycle at his “Home Firm” and the IECRM members participating in the program will be able to maintain a qualified work force without layoffs or the time, effort and expense of hiring for a limited duration.
