The Program
The IEC Electrical Training Apprenticeship Program is the answer to both the individual wanting to jump-start their career and the Electrical Contractor who wants skilled and productive employees.
With an increasing dependency on electrical systems in homes and businesses, trained Electricians are more important than ever.
IECRM’s apprenticeship program lets you earn while you learn and obtain a national certification by the US Dept. of Labor.
A Day In The Life Of An Apprentice
Earn While You Learn
- No experience is required.
- Entry wages are based on experience and typically start at the local area minimum wage.
- Pay increases are given periodically based on performance.
- Apprentices attend classes one time per week (5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m, Aug-May)
- Earn College Credit towards a Bachelors or Associates degree.
- IECRM Apprentices earn wages from their employer, working full-time in the field while enrolled in the program, usually resulting in no cost to the Apprentice at the time of registration.
Getting Started
Interested candidates should:

- Our apprenticeship training classes begin each August. If you are already employed by an electrical contractor, they may register you prior to the start of school. If you are not currently employed with an electrical contractor, you can register for school on your own -- and IECRM can assist you in finding employment with one of our contractor members. Here are ways to find employment through IECRM: 1) Check our "Jobs" board for open positions. 2) Attend one of our Career Fairs and meet hiring contractors in person or online. 3) Request to be added to our "Hire List" that is shared with hiring contractors after you attend an initial Office of Apprenticeship ("OA") orientation (held on Tuesdays online). Please click “Get on the Hire List” to receive communications.
Please note: Getting on the Hire List does not register you for classes at IECRM. Please contact IECRM for more information.

What Our Apprentices Say
Having obtained a Bachelor’s degree in pursuit of a previous career path, I really liked that IEC celebrates graduation with just as much celebration as a college graduation. This time, however, there was the added element of really driving home just how much the graduates are entering a crucial, needed industry with tons of room for growth! I know my family was very impressed with this, and even got emotional seeing that I’m in a field that’s so desperately needed for our society’s way of life.
