The IECRM Government Relations Committee has identified the state legislative candidates that have – and will – support issues of importance to our industry. In the upcoming state legislative elections in Colorado, IECRM has endorsed 26 House and Senate candidates. The IECRM-endorsed candidates are highlighted in yellow.
We encourage you to get involved! FIND YOUR LEGISLATOR, GET TO KNOW THEM, ADVOCATE for them as they ADVOCATE for us, and VOTE in the upcoming election!
The IECRM Government Relations Committee actively monitors federal, state, and local legislative issues that will impact our industry, including Workforce Development, Labor & Employment, and Economic & Infrastructure Development. There are important national business and policy issues facing electrical contractors in the State of Colorado in the upcoming year, specifically related to the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act and the Fair and Open Competition Act (FOCA).
The JOBS Act/Short Term Pell would allow Pell Grants to be used for non-accredited programs in community colleges that can often lead to an individual entering the skilled trades. The Fair and Open Competition Act (FOCA) addresses President Biden’s executive order that requires the signing of a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) as a condition of winning a federally funded contract. This bill has become more critical. FOCA would overturn the EO, making it illegal to require a PLA as a condition for being awarded a construction contract with the federal government.
Support IECRM’s Legislative Advocacy for the Electrical Construction Industry by Donating to the Political Action Fund (PAC Fund)
The IECRM PAC Fund was created many years ago by the association to collectively raise funds in support of legislative candidates and advocate on behalf of the Independent Electrical Contractor and the construction industry in an integral and impactful way. IECRM regularly works to build relationships and educate key decision-makers about the construction and electrical industry. It takes funding and resources to run a campaign and to engage with a collective voice for the industry.
Our voices in the industry must be heard at the State Capitol with the upcoming issues that the industry faces. Your individual financial contribution will make a significant difference to the candidates and initiatives we support in the upcoming legislative session beginning in January 2023. Please donate up to $625 directly to the IECRM PAC Fund today.
