“Do You Love Power Tools?” – The Empowerment of a Woman in the Trades
In the traditionally male-dominated realm of skilled trades, women are increasingly carving out their niche, reshaping perceptions, and challenging stereotypes. From wielding power tools to mastering intricate techniques, women are asserting their presence and prowess in fields once considered off-limits. Such is the case of this IECRM Industry Partner who is a testament to women breaking through longstanding norms.
Abby Moravek, from Milwaukee Tool, has been immersed in the trades from her early days. Having helped her parents with home renovations while growing up, Abby likely inherited her initial spark of interest while seeing the transformation of the old to the innovative and new. This upbringing paved her path to becoming a Residential Construction Job Site Solutions Representative at Milwaukee Tool, specializing in the North Texas region. While looking for her first job after graduating from college, Abby saw in the job description, “Do you love power tools?” That’s all it took to convince Abby that Milwaukee Tools was the right fit for her.
Abby has found her niche in Colorado as a Milwaukee Territory Jobsites Solutions Manager in the Electrical Division. Through her tenure with Milwaukee, she has learned firsthand that besides skill and determination, the right tools are indispensable for success. Recently broadening her expertise to encompass the electrical industry, Abby knows the impact that the right tools can have on the success of completing a project effectively, efficiently, and safely.
Despite the myriad of challenges of navigating a predominantly male industry, Abby is not afraid to confront them head-on. She continuously strives to expand her knowledge across various trades, understanding that establishing herself as an expert inevitably garners respect and increases her outreach to the industry.
IECRM is pleased to have Abby as our go-to gal at Milwaukee. The relationships she is already fostering with our members can only grow and her outreach to women specifically will have a lasting impact on the industry. For women considering entry into the electrical industry, take time to talk with Abby and learn more about being empowered to succeed.
