Apply for the National IEC Emerging Leaders Program

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Friday, December 9, 2022

The IEC Emerging Leaders Program is a six-month leadership development experience for professionals in the electrical and systems contracting industry. Each year, six to ten individuals are selected to form a cohort class that participates in skills development workshops, networking opportunities, leadership exercises, and project development experiences.

Is the Program for You?

Being an “emerging leader” has nothing to do with age or job title. You may be an emerging leader without even knowing it, missing out on opportunities to fully liberate the leader within you. If you have the desire to develop important leadership skills and advance in your career, the IEC Emerging Leaders Program is for you!

Application Process

Applications for the 2023 cohort are now being accepted. The submission deadline is Friday, December 9, 2022. The application process consists of your resume, small essays, a letter of recommendation, and a letter of support from your current employer.

EMERGING LEADERS CANDIDATE APPLICATION

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants to the Emerging Leaders program must complete the following:

•A range of short essay questions related to your experience and interest in the program.
•Written letter of confirmation and support from the Executive Director or other senior manager of the organization of your participation in the program.
•One letter of recommendation from the applicant’s professional life submitted via email to RaeShawn Crosson. Applicants may submit a second recommendation letter; however, only one is required.
• An agreement to honor the time commitment, attendance expectations, and other program participation requirements (agreement is contained within the application form). Your application will be read by IEC National staff, National Emerging Leader Committee, and the Emerging Leaders program facilitators. The most qualified candidates will be invited for a phone interview prior to final selection in February 2023.

The program begins in April. In the interest of developing a diverse cohort, we will accept only one applicant from an organization into the program and never accept more than two applicants per organization into the program; we seek to manage expectations accordingly.

We encourage all members to utilize the member discount for tuition, books and applicable fees to ensure the long-term support and success of the next-generation electrician.
