A Letter from the CEO

IECRM Members, Partners, and Community,

Welcome to springtime in Colorado, where we will begin to experience road construction delays as every winter snow pothole in the road between your house and your workplace is filled with fresh asphalt, every seasoned Coloradoan knows not to plant anything until after Mother’s Day, and celebrations abound for kindergarten, high school, college and apprentice graduations. This month is full of networking, education, and activity. Come play in the sunshine with us

ADVOCACY!

Thank you for responding to the legislative alerts and calls to action regarding SB23-292: Labor Requirements for Energy Sector Construction introduced as a late bill – and pending final vote this week – as the 2023 Colorado Legislative Session comes to a close. This bill would set requirements for PLAs – project labor agreements – on public and private sector projects based on specific project size and value. PLAs are restrictive and would negatively impact access to work by independent contractors.

We need every IECRM member to inform our local legislators that merit shop contractors represent more than 90% of the workforce in the electrical industry in Colorado and we need 100% of Colorado’s qualified, licensed electricians to perform the work that lies ahead in the beneficial electrification priorities of our state. It should not be restricted to less than 10% of the workforce as the bill is structured.

WORKFORCE!

IECRM is dedicated through its mission to the workforce development of the energy and electrical industry and has developed initiatives to support our members and address the growing demand for workers. We respectfully ask that you adhere to the core values of the association –  Integrity, Competency, Respect, Service, and Collaboration – and refrain from recruiting employees from each other. Please utilize the programs, projects and partnerships we have developed in addition to your own hiring strategies for engaging workers into the industry. Please read this month’s article: How IECRM Workforce Development Initiatives Benefit its Members.

SAFETY!

May is also National Electrical Safety Month and IEC National provides several resources to help keep you in the know on job site safety topics, including the popular 8th edition of IEC’s Jobsite Safety Handbook. Join IECRM Training Director Paul Lingo on the fourth Wednesday of each month for the IECRM Member Safety Forum. Consider joining the Safety Committee to plan and present topics. RSVP here for the May 24 Workplace Safety discussion.

There are many facets when it comes to safety. May is also Mental Health Awareness Month and we are re-sharing important content from a year ago from our industry partner Holmes Murphy to bring light to this important topic. Know to Call 988 and share this information in your workplace and on job sites so others know also.

As you read this month’s enews, be sure to scroll all the way through to the thought leadership and information shared by our industry partners.

IECRM Self-Pay Tuition Policy

Self-pay students who are employed with a member company must register and pay through the member company using the IECRM Flashpoint Enrollment Portal/Process in order to qualify for member rates.

Self-pay students that are employed with a member company but that do not register and pay through the member will be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

Self-pay students who are employed with a member company and require a payment plan will not qualify for the member rate and will be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

Self-pay students who do not work for a member company will continue to be charged the non-member rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.

To maximize association/membership benefits, ALL member companies are encouraged to register and pay for all enrolled apprentices utilizing internal payment arrangements and processes between employer and employee.

We value our IECRM members and apprentice community. We encourage all apprentices to be enrolled in the four-year apprenticeship program, earning, and learning their way toward Journeyworker licensure. We encourage all members to utilize the member discount for tuition, books and applicable fees to ensure the long-term support and success of the next-generation electrician.

(Payment Plans are available, please reference the Self Pay Payment Plan Policy.)

Self-Pay Payment Plan Policy

We offer the following arrangements for students that are unable to pay in full at the time of registration.

● Self-pay students will be charged the non-member rate.
● A 50% down payment of total semester tuition, books and applicable fees are due at registration.
● Remaining balance can be divided up to 3 additional monthly payments ($10.00 processing fee applies on each installment)
● All payments that are declined will incur a $20.00 NSF fee.

We encourage all students who are employed with a member company to work with their employer to register and pay through the IECRM Flashpoint Enrollment Portal/Process. This will ensure the student is paying the lowest possible rate for tuition, books and applicable fees.
