Residential Service Crew Lead/Electrician

Position Overview:

This person is responsible for executing on work duties that include but are not limited to: PV system service inspections, de-installation, and re-installation of PV systems, and responding to service calls to troubleshoot and repair residential PV systems, with and without battery storage. This person needs to be self-driven and have an aptitude for troubleshooting a project through to completion.

 

Position Responsibilities and Essential Function Categories

  • Troubleshoot and repair solar PV systems in an efficient and safe manner
  • Lead quality PV installations based on system design specifications, including deinstall and reinstall of existing solar PV systems
  • Ensure that layout, roof attachment, racking and module assembly, combiner box installation, homerun wiring, animal guard and voltage testing meets expected quality standards
  • Installation of Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) for residential projects
  • Lead equipment warranty and vendor RMA processes for customers
  • Execute work order completion through Salesforce/Field Service Lightning for service and both de-installations and re-installations in a timely manner
  • Provide feedback to sales/design/install for best practice improvement
  • Represent the company to our customers in such a way that builds trust and accountability and ensures customer satisfaction
  • Educate customers on how solar PV systems perform and operate
  • Respond to customer emails and phone calls relating to questions, service requests, and project coordination

 

Work Orders and Dispatch:

  • Ability to work safely in a variety of conditions that may include but are not limited to: heights, ladders, live electricity, battery storage, and pitched roof surfaces
  • Follow through on work delegated to you from Project Manager, Service Manager, and Department Director
  • Operate in lead role on work orders where given this assignment to complete scope of work
  • High organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and set priorities
  • Ability to use Field Service Lightning to track and enter case and work order details and maintain high quality records with all information needed to close case/work order and report on details of work performed
  • Effectively create, track, and process RMA work orders and track necessary details to ensure customer satisfaction and OEM payment for work performed

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Attributes:

Certifications:

  • Colorado State Residential Wireman’s Electrical License
  • OSHA 10

Communication:

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written with customers, crew, PM, and team lead
  • Must be able to read and write English
  • Daily availability to respond to emails and phone calls from other team members and clients
  • Practice FOH communication with all colleagues and be receptive to feedback

Teamwork:

  • Contributions and collaboration at departmental and company meetings
  • Support other team members in the resolution and completion of work orders
  • Provide transparency and ample notice for lengthy requests for time off to ensure department can adequately cover required work during absence
  • Provide feedback to install, design, and sales about best practices and issues being discovered in the field

Technology:

  • Ability to use a variety of electrical tools safely and effectively including electrical meters, thermal imaging cameras, and IV curve tracers
  • Computer skills including typing, Salesforce, Microsoft Office applications

Non-essential (Valued but not required skills, experience, and licensure):

  • NABCEP Certification
  • Networking knowledge such as TCP/IP, device addressing and MODBUS protocols
  • Understanding of Data Monitoring Systems and related wiring and computer systems
  • NFPA 70E Certification

 

Physical demands, work environment, travel:

Physical demands:  While performing the duties of the person in this position is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; use tools in a variety of capacities including tasks with repetitive motions and overhead work with hand tools, power tools, and materials; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  The work environment can have extreme temperatures both hot and cold and employee may be subjected to sunlight for multiple hours each day.  Ability to work on pitched roof surfaces and at heights that include multiple building stories is necessary.  Ability to climb ladders Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.  Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.  Driving is required to site locations.

Work environment:  The noise level in this work environment can vary from quiet to loud.  Work environment changes from day to day between office and project work sites.  High and potentially deadly exposure to electricity
