Job Description

The Service Manager is a leadership role requiring the ongoing analysis and improvement of existing business processes and procedures; always looking for opportunities to improve the system, generate efficiencies, capture savings or implement new solutions. You will be required to interact and communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, it is expected that this is done cooperatively, with good faith, and in alignment with the LEI core values. Leaders are expected to step in and help solve problems in any department, with any individual, always eager to train, mentor or coach others as well as pursue individual growth and development.

Responsibilities will include developing and maintaining relationships with customers to enable the Service department to meet and exceed goals relative to sales and gross margin. Project and Work Order management, execution and general oversight are required in this “cradle to grave” role. This client centric approach will apply to new and existing customers as well as encompass the entire portfolio of services offered by LEI.

Key Accountabilities

  • Actual sales as compared to approved sales plan and company targets
    Quantity of new accounts obtained and retention of existing accounts
  • Successful execution of projects and work orders with high profitability and client satisfaction
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects/tasks for preconstruction and operations
  • Independence and ability to accomplish job responsibilities with minimal oversight
  • Contributions to the improvement of business procedures and processes
  • Adherence to established business procedures and processes
  • Interaction, cooperation and leadership with others, consistent with LEI values
  • Continuous evaluations from supervisor, peers, subordinates and external stakeholders
  • Essential Functions and Responsibilities (Other Duties May Be Assigned to Meet Business Needs):

Sales, Marketing and Estimating

  • Develop an individual sales plan for approval with targeted accounts and yearly sales goals
  • Participate in the annual sales plan for the department
  • Achieve sales at a target level of $1,500,000 annually that includes both service, measured at quarterly sales intervals
  • Develop and generate business opportunities that translate directly into the acquisition of new projects to meet the sales plan targeted at assigned accounts and new customers
  • Perform takeoffs and estimates of various types and sizes
  • Preparation of proposals ($50k plus reviewed with Service Department Manager prior to bid)
  • Establish credit and payment terms for new customers prior to delivering proposal
  • All work agreements over $5,000 to be in writing and signed by the customer
    Account Development, Retention and Education
  • Monitor, update and maintain customer/account information in appropriate software
  • Visit each assigned account location and conduct an audit on an annual basis
  • Maintain a consistent presence with assigned accounts during project execution
  • Interpret customer desired concepts and outcomes to create value
  • Minimum target of 3 weekly potential leads and documentation/tracking in CRM software
  • Consistently seek referrals from existing customers and ongoing projects in other departments
  • Identify and participate in networking opportunities, industry events or associations, vendor product demonstrations or educational sessions and develop effective presentation skills
  • Seek out and read or attend industry training opportunities and become familiar with programs, offerings or external incentives to provide to clients (i.e. energy rebates or innovative products)
  • Attend trade/industry shows, networking functions, industry events and client meetings, may be scheduled after-hours
  • Project Oversight and Execution
  • Manage all duties to maintain the project budget and schedule
  • Time and Material/Small Quote Target Gross Margin = +35%
    Large Quote Target Gross Margin ($25k – $50k) = +30%
  • Ensure all procurements and buyouts are completed timely, accurately and diligently
  • Develop initial budgets, oversee billings and prepare monthly cost to complete estimates
  • Ensure, at all times, the field has relevant, current and updated project documents
  • Manage all vendors and subcontractors for performance, billing and change orders
  • Oversee the maintenance of all company required project documentation and record keeping
  • Manage change orders, pricing requests, delays and back charges proactively with client
  • Ensure all project closeout tasks are completed accurately and timely
    Customer Service
  • Treat all clients with the utmost respect and in a manner, consistent with LEI core values
  • Communicate promptly through phone, email and in person, striving for same day response
  • Be courteous by attending all scheduled meetings on time and focus on listening
  • Respond to and ensure resolution of all customer complaints in a timely manner
  • Understand client needs and proactively develop solutions to improve customer satisfaction

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Colorado Journeymen Electrician license required
  • 2+ years of successful estimating, sales, or electrical operations experience required
  • 2+ previous experience in a similar role
  • Communication and presentation skills are essential (written and oral)
  • Self-directed/motivated and entrepreneurial spirit in dealing with day to day tasks or problems
  • Flexible, adaptive and capable of multi-tasking
  • Friendly, personable and of high character, spending a substantial amount of time with clients
  • Expert knowledge of electrical systems, labor and material rates for estimating
  • Knowledge of computer systems, specifically Accubid, Viewpoint and MS Office
  • MVR that meets LEI’s insurance company’s requirements

Hiring Range: $75000 – $110,000 salary, exempt
